In order to make Big Mac operational this week, I had to take my last working Hard drive which was doing nothing in my PC. What this means is that My last PC machine is now nonoperational. I’m going to keep the behemoth around in case I get another freebie drive. After all I just need a hard drive and it can be linuxing in no time.
I have been asked if I hate Microsoft or something. The answer to that is no. I do believe they are a whiney, cowardly company who, in my opinion, would rather no one bought any software except from them. Their attempt to stifle the free removal and transfer of programs from one machine to another has increased piracy rather than decreased it. Other companies followed Microsoft’s play and now some of them are reaping the whirlwind, as Open Source Software is gaining on complexity and support.
The software revolution is happening on the Macintosh front where many excellent programs can be had for less than $50. There are those that try to charge more, but something comes around to solve the problem at my target price. Total cost of ownership for my Mac office is way below what I would have had to pay for matching capabilities in software for Windows. My Macbook pro has been happily laptopping for over 20 months. My original Macbook which was donated to a niece is still going strong 3 years later, while a 17 inch HP just died after only 22 months of service.
Yeah, I’m a PC —not!
