Speed typing with TextExpander

extExpander is a software that allows you to create a snippet of text that you can type with just a few keystrokes. I use this all the time now, and most of it is so that I don’t have to type large amounts of common text completely. I call this speed typing

Here are some rules that I use for my speed typing.

  1. It ain’t speed typing if you are only saving 3 keystrokes.
  2. Use mnemonics to help you remember the shortcuts.
  3. use some kind of delimiter to tell TextExpander to do it’s work. I use a dot.

So, here are some of my codes for the snippets I use.
“.fn” -first name
“.ln” -last name
“.siggy” – my signature for my emails
Hopefully this will help you going with creating your own speedtyping words in TextExpander.
