Camino 2.0: the little Browser that could

When I first made an attempt at going back to the Mac I bought a core 2 duo MacBook. It was white and had a 13.3″ screen. At the time I hated Safari, and Firefox seemed like a weird fit with the Macintosh. There was a Browser called Camino that was Mac Native. It used the Mac controls and everything. It was based on the Gecko rendering engine.

Then I turned around and safari had been updated. Firefox treated the Mac platform like a friend, and so I lost interest in the little Browser called Camino. A couple of years later and finally Camino has come to 2.0

If you don’t have a favorite browser, then give Camino a try. You’ll have the same rendering as Firefox, but in a more Mac-like interface. Camino feels like a lightweight, and so it is. That makes it fast, but not as fast as Safari in 64 bit mode. Just to give you an idea of how much snow Leopard has changed my life, I actually yelled at Firefox, because it was taking too darn long to render a complex page. Safari just popped that page out pretty quick.

I have so many plugins for Firefox that there might be the problem. Camino opened the ages fairly quickly, but I didn’t install any plugins for it. So which one is my Browser of choice? Safari 4.04. Why? The main reason is the ability to capture the pages as web archives and put them in my note taking programs.

Again if you have no favorite among the Browsers give Camino a Try, you might be surprised.

Do You use Camino, and you think I was unfair, then leave a comment. What is your favorite browser?
