This week in the life of this TechWarrior – 12/26/2009

in This week

Well the holidays have come and gone. No more Holidays are going to happen this year. What has this week been like for this TechWarrior? Continue through the break and see.

A friend of mine emailed me and told me he wanted more articles that do something complete, rather than teach principles. He was inspired by a few things I said earlier about EagleFiler and stationery To Quote him “Man, I just don’t get the whole idea, could you give a specific example?”

In the blog I try to present principles that you can use to create your own solutions. What usually happens when I produce a post about how to be something specific is that all kinds of support requests about the example application come in. While I don’t mind those kinds of questions, I am not an Apple Genius with their support bulletins. So, I try to keep out of the specific use examples, and just present the general principles.

Well, this friend asked me about building a password database using EagleFiler with security. So my answer to him was this post about doing just that. So far I have not had the run of questions about some esoteric use of EagleFiler to keep track of other kinds of things. I might just do more specific examples to illustrate the use of some of the techniques that I find.

Then I showed this same friend how to make a simple gas mileage spreadsheet using Numbers. When I was finished with the post I discovered that there is nothing in that post that could not be used in Excel, or Calc in OpenOffice. So that should rightly have been called Making a gas Mileage spreadsheet using any spreadsheet software.

Then someone pointed out that the end of the year was coming and many people would be doing their resolutions. I thought that some of my readers might like to know what to do to become a TechWarrior. So, I wrote a post on starting down the path of a TechWise TechWarrior.

Thursday was ChristmasEve and I had too much to do to get ready for the holiday, so I lazed around and did nothing on the site. Friday was Christmas and I prepared a graphic to express my desire for Christmas for everyone.

I want to take this time to remind you that I am taking retail classes. If you would like training on classes I do, and can’t find a Training Center who will do three or four in your conference room or training room, then I want you to know about my Instructor in a Box classes. Drop me a line via my contact us form. Currently the classes I am illustrating are the ones ready now. I will be adding more later.
