Getting Photos to my computer without having to connect it

One of the problems I have with cameras is getting the photos to my computer. I love to take pictures, but I have been brought up with film and so I find myself waiting for the perfect pictures. I guess I am used to the 24 frames that I could take with the canisters. Well, I think I got the picture thing worked out, but getting them into my computer so that I can edit them or put them in albums is a problem. No more. An explanation after the break.

The answer to my problem of more photos into my computer is a simple piece of hardware. This is the Eye-Fi
card. The eye Fi card is a sd or sdhc card with a little bit of juice. All of these cards are wifi enabled. Some have gps in it to geotag your photos like the one I linked to. Now this is not the gps of talking to the satellites. This uses the cell towers method of triangulating your position.

For TechWarriors this is a perfect addition to your camera. This can get those photos off of your camera and into your computer. You can also upload your photos to picture services like flickr, or picasa. Once you set it up it will deliver your pictures to your computer, fairly quickly.

You do need to go to the Eye-FI web site before your purchase your camera. Some Cameras are not supported by the Eye-Fi. Also if you intend to use the 4GB versions you need a camera that can handle sdhc cards. I think of the more recent versions are supported.

An Eye-Fi card is digital film that sends your photos to your camera. Never have to tether you camera to your computer directly again.
