This is the week in my life I did a full week class. I taught ASP.NET. While ASP.NET is not an open source Technology, it is a web technology, and so I have to teach and support it. It is a fun technology, however. The rest of my week after the break
On Monday I started to think about EagleFiler in a different way. I stopped thinking of it as just a finder replacement, and started to think of it as a database product. The thrust of my argument is that EagleFiler allows varied search capabilities that render EagleFiler as a database in my discussion. You can read that post here.
Next I tried to take those ideas from that post and make EagleFiler work a litle harder so that I won’t have to. Central to this idea was that I would use tags to do all my organization work. I needed the documents for this application to have tags on creation, and have those tags changed when the file was moved from one folder to the next. The result was this post detailing my ideas database.
Not wanting to make this Blog seem like one big advertisement for EagleFiler I wanted to list the Programs I consider to be essential to the way I work. EagleFiler did manage to get in the list, but hey it’s on all the time on my computer. The post is here.
It’s time to reevaluate by technology. This is like spring cleaning except I look at all of my tech and ask “are you justified?” If the tech cannot justify itself, then it is removed from my office and bag. I have been working on my laptop the most lately, and I am wondering whether the desktop computer is necessary for me any more. I answer the question in this post.
