24 Hours with the Magic Mouse

Yesterday I purchased an Apple Magic Mouse. I was none too impressed with the old blue tooth mighty mouse. In fact I purchased the Targus Blue Tooth mouse for Mac, which I was happy with. The Magic Mouse however has one thing going for it that the Targus did not. The Apple Mighty mouse had touch gestures. More about the Mighty Mouse after the Break.

The mighty mouse entered service with very little fanfare It came in minimalist packaging with no software. I have the latest release of Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. I set up the blue tooth device using the Wizard and the mouse responded quickly. The ouse did come with two AA batteries already in the battery case. There is an on off button in the upper right hand corner of the mouse door.

The mouse is of goodly size, but it is very thin compared to other mice. It has lost the scroll ball of the other Apple Mice. I set my mouse to allow the secondary button click, or right click. I also had to pump up the speed of my mouse because I used to my mouse being a little quick.

I subjected my mouse to a full session of Playing WOW and writing blog articles. It performed very well. It did take some getting used to the mouse, but that is true for any mouse. At least that is true for me. After 24 hours with the mouse it is already hard to remember what the other mouse felt like.

I will say that you might want to play with this mouse before you buy it. Get to a place that sells Apple products and play with the mouse and a Macintosh. You might find that it is not for you. I knew that would want this mouse because I hate trackpads, and TechWarrior Central runs from a 15“ MacBook Pro, circa 2008. A mouse is indicated for both transport and for working at TechWarrior Central.

After 24 hours, I am finding that this is a keeper. TechWarrior Gear rating: recommended.
