This week saw a lot of interesting news come out of Apple, as well as some interesting thinking on my part. The first thing I wish to announce is that I will be posting on Sundays as well starting this week. i am also thinking of not taking a laptop if I should get an Apple iPad. This will definitely change theTechWarrior gear situation. Well I will review the week after the break.

On monday I opened with a post at our new post time. For most of the life of this blog I had our post revealed at 8:05 am Central. I started posting the post at 12:01 am Central. This has the benefit of having the post out for a full 24 hours and at least 6 hours before people started to come on to my website. It has worked out well. Monday’s post was a post on pre-thinking your blog. I decided that TechWarriors might want to know how to use blogging software, and so I will be covering that in more detail in future blog topics. That post is here.

For a long time there was no official port of the OpenOffice product. A group of programmers got together and decided to port the OpenOffice product over to the Macintosh. They goal was to provide a complete Mac look and feel to OpenOffice. For the most part they succeeded. When OpenOffice announced that they would be providing a Mac Native OpenOffice, I thought that NeoOffice would be long gone. Well, they are still around, and I like NeoOffice’s feel on the Mac Environment. They added a service for which they would like a donation. More about this in the post.

I try every week to provide an article for the New computer users and Technophobe out there. I feel that it is my duty to make TechWarriors out these people. This week I explained RSS and how one might use it using Google Reader. That article is here.

I then decided that I would put some of my HTML articles as a screen cast. I decided that I had to begin at the beginning, so I made a screencast about the structure of an HTML document. I uploaded the screen cast to Youtube, and embedded it in this post.

It took me a couple of days of thinking to respond to the techgasm that is the usual Apple product announcement. This time is was Apple iPad. The device as demoed looks like something I want. I already have an itunes account, a Kindle, and an iPhone. This device, if it as advertised, might make me reconsider lugging the laptop around. I have at least 60 days of anticipation before it shows up on the shelves. I will not be lining up for it. My opinion is here.

As I stated before I will be posting on Sunday. I still don’t know if I will be posting a regular feature on Sunday, but that means a 7 post per week blog. I really couldn’t do the two posts per day. These posts do take up a chunk of my time, so I will be keeping the single post per day cycle. Don’t forget that there is over 300 + posts in this blog, so if you have not read them all, I invite you to do so. Also don’t forget the TechWarrior Gear store. I add stuff all the time to that store, so you might want to go there often. Also the eBook “Vi for the rest of us” is still available if you need instruction on starting to master the unix screen editor of choice for many.

In the coming week I will be prepping for a class in Maine. It’s not a new class, so it should not interfere with the posting of blog entries. Be prepared and do good work.
