How can a Week this short be this full? I started the Sunday Posts this week. Be sure to check it out this coming Sunday. On to the the review of the week after the break.
Sunday I decided to take a post i did earlier and do a screen-cast to get the point across. It was pretty successful, and fun to do. The post was the beginnings of working with Open Office Base.
On Monday I decided to post another screen-cast about Numbers this time. The more I work with iWork, the more impressed I am with the product. For $79 you can’t beat it if you want to buy an office bundle. With the iPad getting iWork products for it this might really get things going for the product.
Tuesday had me indicating what the essential gear is for a TechWarrior by putting out a list. The list had me repeating some of my earlier comment, but there was some new stuff in the list as well.
Wednesday had me teaching once more. I wanted a calendar on my website that would display to everyone. The problem with the one I had on the site, was that I had to enter this information a second time. I prefer to enter information only once, so finding out how to embed my Google Calendar makes my life easier. I put together a how to and now it is there for anyone to see.
Thursday saw me working on my external drive among other things. I use the drive to store a bootable clone in case the system primary drive craps out. Well, I thought that my solution might be of interest, and so I did another how to. Separating the media storage, and the boot clone has made my life a whole lot easier, and safer. Don’t forget to test your bootable clone, by booting from it.
Friday I had a lot of Consultation calls to make, so I had to make an easy post. I made a list of 5 things you can do to increase the security of your computer. The only hard part of security is getting the boob behind the keyboard to give a darn. I think I might have gotten that done with that post.
Don’t forget the TechWarrior Store. You can support the site by buying some of your gear from the store. You may be happy to know that the store is run by Amazon.
I’ve been asked by some customers about getting a Kindle now. My response is to hold off on that purchase. In less that 60 days the iPad is expected to hit the shelves. You may want to give that thing a try. I’m sure that Amazon may then lower the price of their ebook readers. If you have a Kindle now, I fully expect the iPhone and iPod kindle reader to be upgraded to take advantage of the iPad, so your investment should be safe. With a life-size browser to work with Oreilley’s Safari online book reader may be practical in a mobile environment. To say that I am looking forward to the iPad is an understatement.
Well that’s been my week. Hope you had a good one too. Be Prepared, and do good work.
*EDIT* I will not be posting on Sundays. I really need the break, so Sunday Posts are out. Monday through Saturday are still a go, though.
