Useful info! Thought I'd add a note that there are several other ways to create tables in NeoOffice(OpenOffice).
One way is to copy all the cells of an Excel worksheet and then Paste that into the Tables panel. Make sure you don't have another table selected! To unselect any selected table you may have to right-click in the panel -- that usually removes any selection.
Another way is to save a query, and then drag the query name from the Queries panel to the Tables button in the Database panel. NeoOffice will ask you about creating a primary key. You can say no and check later. I found that the new table had one anyway. NeoOffice will also complain if you don't change the name as it can't have a table and a query with the same name. (This has the roughly same result as a Make-Table query in Access.)
