This week was brutal. It seems that the topic chose for this week clanked like nothing had before. So a few changes are imminent. AppleScript mondays are done. The vast number of readers want simple and quick solutions and I get it now. Complex solutions requiring learning to program are off topic. I may go off topic, but I understand now.
Monday started with a new feature I thought was popular. If it was popular be sure to comment on the AppleScript page or use the contact form to send me an email. Don’t think that someone else will speak up. Last week was my last AppleScript Monday. If you liked it, then I need you to tell me. From my Analytics it looks like it clanked, so I need you to tell me if it was worth it to you. Or got to those pages a lot in the next few days so I can see the movement through page views.
Tuesday opened with another snorer. I like Keynote. I use it extensively, but apparently you all don’t. I’ll keep my Keynote posts to a minimum from now on.
You just got to admire someone who is conducting a review of his own posts. That’s what this is, a review.
I love pencils. They give me permission to write on things, but apparently you don’t like them as much as I do. The post on Wednesday clanked like a bad heavy metal band. Apparently you like gel pen inserts for pens more than pencils. Who knew? I do now.
On Thursday I had a class and so I had to come up with an Idea that would be a humdinger. Well I wanted to share with you how to set up a Mac to be a safe computer for your kids. The post is making a mild comeback
Friday I knew I had to hit one out of the park, so I chose PDFPen. This software allows you to take control of your PDFs making annotations and even doing OCR, but one thing I am using it for is to sign agreements with my real signature without converting anything to paper. In the post I show you how to use a signature image with your PDFs.
Also on Friday, Apple began taking pre-orders on the iPad for April 3rd delivery.
Saturday’s post was written last week for publication this week, and it showed. It is my opinion of what current technology might do to internet access, and specifically the classroom. I am an educator at heart and I have to make these prognostications so that I can come back and point out I said it back then. For a lot of my audience this is a yawner, but I leave it on the site for those who want to look at it.
So, what have I learned this week. The majority of my readers are people who want to get more out of their software purchases. They want me to talk about technology, gadgets and the like. They want my take on the upcoming devices or things I have found to do my work faster, or at least more efficiently. I get it.
Speaking of efficiently A couple of posts were published with the wrong times and date. Certain posts were leaked and people were able to read them before I wished them read. I have amended my workflow to better make sure that this never happens again on the site. To help you understand why this happened I am bouncing between two blog editors MacJournal and MarsEdit. They are both very good, but the Mac Journal Product has other uses beside blogging, so it is staying. You should see a more consistent posting style with the use of one blog editing software.
As a note I had been posting the post at one minute after midnight CST. This is not reflective of when I want the post to show up for the world, so Starting with this post I will be publishing at 6:01 am CST, or CDT.
So, Do good work, and be prepared.
[edit]Applescript Mondays has a reprieve. Look for it this monday
