As you may know I use Scrivener for my novels and short stories. It is a wonderful writing tool. It provide a set of tools and gets out of my way. Tehre is one thing that it does not provide that you may wish to add. If you wish at the end of this Post I will present a link for you to download the entire template

I usually put a Cast of Character list. I had a problem with the kind of formatting, so I chose to put a list together as a table. You can enter as much text into each cell as you need. The table has four fields. These are Name, Type of Character, Relationships, and comments.

Name is the full name of the character including any titles and accolades. Comments is an area reserved for any use. Type of Character uses my own categorization system.

Protagonists and Antagonists are put into Level one and level Two. Level one means they are the story. Level two are the henchmen of the Level one characters. Then there are filler characters that are minor character who show up and then disappear. If I have a multi-threaded story, then I divide my plots into letters and add those to the type category, i.e. Plot A Level 1 Protagonist.

Relationships are how the Characters relate to each other, i.e. Commander of Unit, Father of the Bride, etc.

there’s room for more, remember that you can expand this how big you want, because this is not something that is to be printed which is why it is int he Research section of the template.

To get the template file you can download it here. Unzip and use the Template import feature of Scrivener to bring it in.
