I’ve started this blog by complaining about not having a OneNote Replacement on the Mac. Since then I have forayed into Circus Ponies Notebook, DevonThink, and Eagle Filer. Of them all Eagle Filer came the closest.
I discovered Curio, and wrote about it. I even resorted to installing OneNote on a VM and run it when I needed to keep my notes. I can even use the Unity interface on VMware Fusion to make OneNote look like a mac app. I’ve gone to quite a few extremes.
The replacement

The replacement I found is Growly Notes. In the above screen shot you get to see the Growly Note interface which looks a little bit like OneNote. It works like OneNote allowing you put notes anywhere on the page. It also can open more than one notebook in the same windows, as demonstrated in the above picture.
If you decide to use Growly Notes, then be sure to tip the developer. Let’s encourage him to continue developing this software

Thanks for the heads up on this software. I too, have been a user of Circus Ponies Notebook, DevonThink and presently of Eagle Filer. I am probably going to keep using Eagle Filer but I’m very interested in exploring Growly Notes as I like the look of the software and the fact that the developer obviously has had serious background experience in the industry.
Actually, I am no longer really looking for a OneNote Replacement. I have moved back to DEVONThink, as that product is perfect for the way I work now. I will still post what I find for those who miss OneNote from their PC days
